Zoodefenders of Austria Appealed to President of Belarus – Alexander Lukashenko

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is asked not to shoot stray animals in the country on the eve of the II European Games.

Director of the largest Austrian animal shelter Wiener Tierschutzverein, former chairman of the Green Party of Austria Madeleine Petrovich made such a request to the head of the Belarusian state.

As it became known, at the end of November last year, French actress and animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot sent a letter to the president asking Alexander Lukashenko to protect stray animals.

In their address, the Austrian zoo defenders explained why it is impossible to shoot stray animals.

Among the reasons that the Austrian side appeals is the inadmissibility of shooting animals on the eve of a European sports event in the country, “to show the city in the best light, and homeless animals spoil this image.”

According to Austrian zoodefenders, the best way out in this situation is sterilization of stray dogs and cats. They also see a way out in conducting educational work among the population.
